It's done (or, Callahan's busy day, and now she owns a house)

It seems rather fitting that this blog start with a photo of the welcome to your home card from the former owner, sitting on the dining room mantle when we walked into the home we now own for the first time. It was located in the room where I first spoke to the seller agent about wanting to buy the house and what I could do to get it.

That was in June. It is now the end of October.

What a journey it has been.

But today, today we went to the bank, Charles and I, and signed paperwork (many pages, but not as bad as he'd feared, apparently), handed over a large check, and walked out the owners of a home built (according to county records) in 1899.

The house is ours, for better or for worse, until somehow we can afford to sell it, or death do us part.
